Become a man of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and LeadersHIP

General Information

What is the rush process like? Pledge process? What is a bid?

Rush is the formal recruitment process of fraternities. Students can see where their interest lies as they choose the fraternity for them. Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. (ODPhi) is part of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), not the Interfraternity Council (IFC), and therefore does not participate in the IFC rush schedule.

If you express interest in Omega Delta Phi or any fraternity, and they recognize in you a potential Brother, they will offer you a bid. A bid is a formal letter inviting you to partake in the pledge process.

Pledging a fraternity is the process where you learn about the Brotherhood before becoming a Brother. During the prospective member process, a prospective member will learn about ODPhi's four Sacraments, national and chapter history, and any pertinent information that he will need to be an integrated member of the Brotherhood and Multicultural Greek Council. The process focuses on academic growth, leadership development, and team building.
Omega Delta Phi Fraternity,  Inc. has a strict no hazing policy.

Do you have a house?

There are four Greek Councils at Northwestern University: Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council (PHA), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Only IFC and PHA organizations have houses on campus. Omega Delta Phi is a member of the MGC and does not have a fraternity house on campus.

What is the MGC?

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a unique community of fraternities and sororities. Each organization was founded with a cultural tradition in mind, but these organizations are not exclusive to members of these cultures. MGC organizations welcome students from all backgrounds.  Omega Delta Phi's slogan is, after all, "One Culture, Any Race."

Is ODPhi a Latino Fraternity?

ODPhi is a Latino-based, multicultural fraternity. Although the Alpha Alpha Chapter is predominately Latino-identifying, many of its Brothers come from different ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, religions, and socioeconomic statuses. This diversity persists on a national level as well.

What is a probate?

A probate is a ceremony, in which the newest members of a fraternity or sorority are introduced to the Greek community. This normally includes a performance of what the new members learned about their organization and an unmasking.

You can see some the Alpha Alpha chapter's probates here!

How much are chapter dues?

Omega Delta Phi is a non-profit organization. Dues are $130 per quarter and go directly to insurance for Brothers, as well are our National Undergraduate Conference. If monetary issues concern you, please contact the acting president or treasurer. The Alpha Alpha Chapter believes that any deserving man should have the opportunity to join the Brotherhood regardless of his means.

What does ODPhi do?

ODPhi prides itself on being a diverse fraternity on many fronts. It has hosted social, philanthropic, service, and social justice programs throughout its tenure. It also collaborate continuously with organizations in every Greek council at Northwestern University. From its annual Softball Tournament with Kappa Alpha Theta in the fall to its annual César Chávez Commemorative Day of Service in the spring, it believes in and encourages Greek unity.

ODPhi strives to make a difference in the community by being involved with various service projects such as the Young Knights Service Program at Evanston Township High School, its annual Silver Rose Scholarship Banquet and, its annual César Chávez Commemorative Day of Service.

I want to succeed academically. Will fraternity membership help or hinder my efforts?

One of ODPhi's goals is to graduate its Brothers. Active Brothers are required to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The Internal Vice President manages academics for Prospective members and Brothers through required quarterly meetings. If you are seeking help with time management, balancing your academics, how to access campus resources, or want to talk about your goals, feel free to contact the acting Internal Vice President.

What are some advantages to membership?

Becoming a Brother of ODPhi allows you to partake in numerous service and social events, as well as a unique and diverse community experiences. You will have an opportunity to become a leader in the Northwestern community and form a network of Brothers, both undergraduate and alumni, throughout the nation that become an invaluable source of support.

I heard your fraternity emphasizes leadership. What opportunities will I have in this fraternity?

The Alpha Alpha Chapter, like many MGC chapters, is naturally small in number. Because of its size, each member assumes a vital role in the organization. From taking initiative in Service Programs, such as the Young Knights Leadership Academy at ETHS, to taking leadership roles in student groups, Brothers learn what leadership is all about. In the chapter's history, Brothers have held leadership positions in MGC, Alianza, the Muslim-Cultural Student Association, the Council for Latino Admissions Volunteers for Education, the Polish-American Student Association, the DERU Honor Society, WNUR Sports, the Living Wage Campaign, the Latina/o Studies Program, and many more.

Where can I go for more information?

Please review the national website. If you any questions, please contact the chapter at nu.odphi@gmail.com or email any Brother directly.

I am a parent, and I have more questions/concerns. Who should I contact?

The Alpha Alpha Chapter is more than happy to provide parents and families with additional information. To understand Omega Delta Phi better, you may contact the president or the Alumni Advisor. They will be more than happy to answer emails, talk over the phone, or meet in person to discuss fraternity life. If you would like to contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, please contact Karen Pryor,  the Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
